New World Record 100m breaststroke!

August 15th, 2009

World Record 100 breaststroke

World Record 100 breaststroke

Glen Christiansen after he has  broken the world record with 1,1 seconds in Göteborg, Sweden today. In a nearly perfect race Glen took it out in a controlled 33,63 and came home in the amazing 36,6 finishing in 1.10,34 over a second faster than the old world record. “It was a perfect finish of my Masters Camp here in Göteborg and it also shows that my training methods are working. Great to do the record in my old homepool where I learned to swim and in front of many of my old swimming friends” – says Glen with a big smile on his face. “Next time I´ll shave and see if I can get under a 1.10″ he contiues never stopping trying to improve. ” I train according to my 9 week cykle and have done about 7 km a week latetly, working a lot on technique (using the SwimStars drills), rythm and pure speed. I have done little less weight training that I wanted to do but enough flexibility training but I see room for improvement in my training. In order to bring the record down to 1.08-09 and to swim a fast 200m I will have to raise the weekly volume to around 12km in some periods but never compromising the technique. I am very happy that also the swimmers who have trained for are swimming very well and I am looking foward to a great camp in Tenerife in November. The world record will be on Youtube as soon as my finnish collegues Martti and Jukka gets it on.

Three gentlemen in the prime of their lives looking for a 4th swimmer for a medley relay at World Championships 2010

August 13th, 2009

Eliten T.I.G.

Eliten T.I.G 35 years later

We started to swim together around 1970 in Valahallabadet and soon became good friends. We called ourselves Eliten T.I.G. and had our focus on having fun and swimming, with emphasis on having fun. The swimming “careers” finally ended and life took us different directions. But the friendship never ended and now we are looking for a 4th swimmer for our +200 years medley relay at the World Masters Championships in Göteborg next year. We are looking for someone to swim the third leg, the butterfly, but it is not enough that you can swim fast! You must be at least 45 years old, you must be able to drink 05, L beer in less than 3,5 seconds AND have humour!  The last qualification being the most important. Camps on Canary Islands are planned and tours of other important (swim-) sights like High Chapparall and Zillertal. Hotel Malmen will be official hotel for northern Sweden.  More information is to come. The sponsorpool is expected to be full at the end of this year. After that there will be a waitinglist published in DI. If you think you´re the man for the job, think twice. Then contact us on this address.
