Having fun learning to swim with SwimStars
We are finally starting up again with our popular Swimstars courses after the summer break. Many children have practised and swum during their vacations this past summer and are eager to show what can. The aim is of course to take more SwimStars and learn to swim better and better. But also have fun doing it. The youngest (2,5 – 4 year old) doing the “Wassergewöhnung” are trying to take the Green, Turquois and Blue SwimStars and the oldest (7-10 year old) are doing freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and are even trying butterfly! The courses take place Saturdays (from 16.30) and Sundays (from 14.00) in the Turmwegschule near Rothenbaumchaussee. There are still a few palces left so if you are interested send us an email: christiansen@swimstars.de

Fit for Fun triathlete Alexander with coach Glen.
Vielen Dank Glen.
Gruss Alexander

Only one week after Swimstars Swim Camp on T3, Tenerife some swimmers took the advantage of all the good training and technique work and swam new best times in their home countries. In France Salima Bouyad (50) won 6 titles at the French Masters Championships winning 100m-200m-400m-800m Freestyle, 200m IM and the 3km Open Water. The 200m freestyle and 200m IM were new best times for Salima who also took the SwimStar Instructor licence on Tenerife. In Hamburg 2 x IronMan participant Rebecca Goldbach swam new best times in, for her, the short distances 50m Free (31,09) and 100m Free (1.07,05) at the 26th Poseidion Traditional swimfest.

Happy swimmers at T3!

Dinner together in the eveing sharing the days experiences and fun.

A well deserved brake in the training

Landtraining and stretching: an important part of the training.

The Backstroke lane: Lisbeth-Tina-Karl-Elisabeth

The King of sprints Anders and his 20 months pregnant Line!

The rest of the Sprint/breaststroke lane: Lonie. Anna-Karin, Uwe

The Middle distance lane (Birgitta missing): Gundi, Salima, Anja, Rebecca

Stroke analysis after swimming in the Flume

Swimming in the Flume: a mental and physical challenge

Everybody listening very attentive to Biomechanic Thomas analyse.

Some participants also took the SwimStars Instructor licence during the camp
Last weeks Swimstars World Master Camp on Tenerife was probably the best camp in the last 2 years! A great group of people who really got a long well with each other. The age difference between the youngest (25 years) and the oldest (65) and the level of the swimmers from ” I just swim for fun” to World Champions and ex Olympic swimmers was just positive and made the group really tight. The training was tough, some swimmers doing over 40.000 meters during the camp but we also managed to have some fun like doing a Midsummer Challenge Relay Swim against the junior team from NAC Dublin, Ireland. We won the Medley relays over the much younger swimmers but on the Freestyle relays the Dublin Kids came back strong and won. In the Mens Medley relay the winning time was 2.05,32! Not bad for a team being 181 years old! (Backstroke: Karl Justh (53) 35,79, Breast Glen Christiansen (53) 32,71, Fly Lonie Encinar (40) 32,20 and Freestyle Anders Kilen (35) 24,62!) The Womens relay Age 134 won with a 2.19,24 (Backstroke: Tina Kueter (28) 35,48, Breaststroke Anna-Karin Lundin (37) 36,14, Fly Line Lund (29) 35,72 and Freestyle Anja Buermeister (40) 31,50).
We also did technique analysis in the swimmingflume, start training with filming and here my ex assistant coach from USG Copenhagen, World Masters sprint champion Anders Kilen were a great help in helping with start technique, sprints and technique advices in general.
One of the free afternoons a part of the group who can´t get enough of water took to Siam Park, a fantastic water-fun park close by while the rest went shopping in the tax free shops of Tenerife.
The swimmers were devided in to different lanes according to their level and what strokes they mainly swim. They also recieved different training programs. This time we had a: Middle Distance lane, a Backstroke lane and a Sprint/breaststroke lane. This way everybody could work on their different specialties with fellow competitors.
The food is really good at Jardin La Caleta and you really have to watch out if your are there coaching and not swimming twice a day!
On the second day we all got in the swimming flume to get our strokes corrected and advices from T3´s Biomechanic Thomas and myself. A worthwile expreience that gives you new insights of your technique under water. After the session we could work the rest of the week on the new advices. Very helpful for swimmers and coach!
Some swimmers took the chance to learn more about teaching swimming according to the SwimStar method during the week. Since I offer the Instructor course during the camp , several swimmers took the Swimstar Instructor Licence and now can teach children and adults to swim.
The last day we selected a MVP (Most Valuable Player) from the camp and Birgitta Olofsson won the prices for her always friendly and laughing smile and her great training spirit! A true Masters swimmer.
Last but not least: The camp would not have been so great if the staff at the hotel and at T3 weren´t so great! Always friendly, helpful, smiling, serviceminded and good looking!
Especially thanks to the always supportive Heike Huhnke at T3 who did the organisation and paperworks for the camp. She is absolutely an angel!
