How would you like to swim faster and better in your life at the age of 39, 40 or why not 50!!! This is what some of my online swimmers do now. They mix the online coaching with a camp or two per year and this seems to be a great formula for success. At least for Mia 39 who been swimming with the program for two years and just came back from winning the Dutch Open Masters and swimming her fastest time ever. She was a typical swimmer who never reached her full potential as a teenager and quit. Now she is back swimming fast and having fun doing it. Two other swimmers are Anne and Helena who just swam Great Britian Masters and had some very impressive results. Anne, 52 never swam as a child and discovered swimming as an adult. She now swam after 2, 5 years of online training new best times in the 50m and 100m breaststroke: 42,61 and 1.31,82 (7 seconds faster than previous time!) and is looking forward to even faster swims. Helena 40, has been with the program for one year and only been to one camp so far but swims like never before, taking those Irish Masters records down one by one; backstroke, butterfly, freestyle, IM…. This time in England: 4 new Irish Records! Well done!

Anne and Helena from Ireland swam new personal best times at GB MastersMia from Sweden won 50m butterfly at the Dutch Open Masters last weekend

Over 12.000 participants at the World Masters Championships
I remember starting at the first World Masters Championships in 1986 in Tokyo, Japan. Back then hardly no one outside of the adult fanatic swimmers scene took it seriously. They thought it was just a bunch of “used to be” or “wanna be” swimmers who were trying to finally win that desirable medal. Coaches, officials and many younger swimmers didn´t want to participate or be involved. Today after many years of information and promoting Masters swimming is a major power! An economic attractive sport with fantastic possibilities. And it will continue to grow. New swimmers (and coaches) all over the world are discovering Masters swimming and how rewarding and fun it is. My father said some very true words to me some years ago: ” Glen, it seems to me that you have had more fun and more success as a masters swimmers then as a “junior” swimmer” And it is true, because even I who had a fairly successful swimming career with 9 years on the Swedish National team, participation at the Olympic Games, the World and European Championships and a 100m Breast world number 1 ranking, the career “only” lasted 10 years. Then it was over, as for most swimmers. But as a Masters swimmer my “career” will last a life time! I have won 14 World Masters Champion titles since that first time in Tokyo and I still think it is fun! For sure you don´t win all the time, you don´t even swim well all the time but the great thing with masters swimming is that there is always a next year, a new challenge, a new chance!
And even more important: all the friends that you meet at the different Masters competitions and camps all over the world. Friends that you share at least one thing in common with: the love for swimming!

- Christoffer, a really inspiring swimmer
Christoffer Lindhe: Rolemodel of the week! My son Noe (and myself) has a new hero. Christoffer lost his both legs and one arm in an accident 4 years ago. Now is he training for the Paraolympics on a lane next to us at Tenerife TopTraining. He swims so well, is so fast and is so cool/nice. Wow. This beats meeting Ian Thorpe last month.
