The typical Masters swimmer: 35 to 55 years old, happy & top fit!
The numbers at the National Masters Championships brakes all records this year leading up to the World Masters Championships in Göteborg, Sweden. Sweden, Norway and Denmark are having more starts and participants than ever. The Sedish Masters which will take place in Växsjö 19-21 of March have 433 swimmers doing 1576 individual starts and 212 Relays, Norway who have their Championships this coming weekend (12-14/3) in Stavanger have even more participants with 465 swimmers and the Danish Masters which took place in Odense, the birthtown of Hans Christian Andersen, 850 starts. Not bad for little Denmark, but now we are just waiting for the record from the Finnish Masters that is in the first weekend in April. Finnish Masters are coming strong….. SISU power!

Take the chance and train in the pool where the World Masters Championships will be held in Göteborg! From the 13th to the 16th of May will we hold a Masters Camp in Göteborg with 6 swim sessions, videofilming of your technique and starts, seminars and lots of fun! It is an international Camp and we will coach in English, German and the Scandinavian languages. A great chance to get to know the World Championship pool, the surroundings and of course the beautiful city Göteborg on the Swedish westcoast. Masters swimmers from Sweden and Norway enjoyed the weekend in Göteborg and the World Masters Championships pool, Valhallabadet
A small group of Masters swimmers found their way to Göteborg and had a luxurius camp in the World Masters pool, Valhallabadet last weekend swimming twice a day, practising starts and turns being videofilmed and trying to improve their technique and fitness during two intensive days. The mixed group of ex national team swimmers and “new born” swimmers had fun and most signed up again for the next camp on the 13th to 16th in Göteborg. Some even secured a seat on the upcoming camp on Tenerife in June!

22 new participants arrived yesterday to the World Masters Camp at T3 on Tenerife. The first day was spent on getting to know t3, swim some and Technique analysis in the swiming Flume. Upcoming Camps : 13-14 February Göteborg, Sweden.
13 March Hamburg, Germany.
13-16 May Göteborg, Sweden.
21-30 June T3, Tenerife.

Sandra Aspholm brakes the Camp record in "under water swimming"; 65 meters!
Sandra Aspholm from Åland broke a personal best and the Camp Record in “Under water swimming” yesterday during SwimStars World Masters Camp on Tenerife. Sandra swam 65 meters under water without breathing, and that after a hard training session! Congratulations!

This is how it will look at Masters competitions from now on.
The FINA (The International Swimming Federation) Masters committeé has decided that the full body suits that we have been swimming in (in differnt forms, shapes and materials) the last 13-14 years will not be allowed anymore. Men kan wear swimsuits that goes down to the knee but do not cover knees or bellybutton.

Will new records be broken? Of course! Masters swimmers age up, brake new records which are broken again by other swimmers. Masters swimming is a fast growing sport and the level of the competitions and records are just getting better and better!
FINA also decided that the World Masters Championships 2012 will be held in Riccione, Italy! After successfully organising the World Masters in 2004 they get again the opportunity to host what I belive will be the biggest Masters competition ever! Looking foward to swim there again, especially since I then swim in a new age group! But first; lets meet in Göteborg!
